A Tribute:

"When our son Noah was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2011 at the age of 10, our world (and our family) was torn apart. His treatment would be three years in length, could only be given at BC Children’s Hospital, and one of his parents needed to be with him in Vancouver for the first year, with short breaks once a month or so. To try and retain some sense of normalcy for our three other children, we made the decision that my husband Tom would stay here with our daughters and work while I would go with Noah and we would try to come home whenever possible. This meant a lot of traveling back and forth from Smithers to Vancouver. Initially, our friends paid for a lot of the flights, but when the Community Cancer Care Team approached us, offering to sponsor our travel, we were so appreciative; we would never have been able to afford to travel back and forth so often if it weren’t for their help. This has been such a blessing for us -- one less thing to worry about! -- so that we and other families like us can concentrate on the task at hand -- beating this ugly disease!"
